If you’re looking for a bit of a spin on the classic burger, try out this California Avocado Steakhouse Burger. The recipe calls for actually adding ingredients into the burger itself to give it a more intense steakhouse flavor. How to Eat Your Seasonal Fresh Fruits This Month

watermelon summer children cute

We have said goodbye to May, and hello to June! June happens to be National Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Month, and I can see why! Local fresh fruits and veggies have flooded the grocery stores, stands and farmers markets have popped up along the streets, and I couldn’t be happier! There is nothing better than eating your favorite fruits and veggies fresh and local.

One of my favorite ways to plan meals is to find out what fruits and vegetables are in season. I love this time of year because the seasonal vegetables for June are the start of the seasonal vegetables for summer! So, what fruits and vegetables are in season? Let’s go through a list! This week, we’ll start with the fruit.

Stuffed Grilled Apricots Wrapped in Bacon

Stuffed Grilled Apricots Wrapped in Bacon

Apricots are our first fruit in season this summer. Try Stuffed Grilled Apricots Wrapped in Bacon for a true summer treat. Then, wash that down with a refreshing Blueberry Lemonade. Lemons are in season, and so are blueberries! My favorite way of acquiring these summer berries is to pick them myself! Growing up, it was one of my favorite summer fruits to grow because the berry bushes took minimal effort to take care of but always yielded a ton of fruit. Now, I just enjoy going to a farm and filling a basket! Summer happens to be when most berries are in season, such as blueberries,

strawberries, and raspberries. For the best berry recipes, check out our berry blog! If you want berry drinks, then this blog is for you! We have found some of the best berry recipes that are sure to be a summer treat. Cantaloupe is a fruit I will only eat in the summer. When it is fresh and in season, it is delectable! When it’s not, I try to stay away from its bland flavor. I feel the same way about cherries too! They are so good on their own, I rarely use them in a recipe… unless it’s this Cherry Cheesecake Frozen peaches summer seasonYogurt! Citrus is in season, particularly oranges and lemons! Check out this page for tons of recipes on how to cook with citrus; we’re calling it the “main squeeze” of summer! To me, fresh peaches  absolutely scream summer. There is nothing that brings me back to summers as a little girl like biting into a fresh, juicy peach and being so sticky by the end of it I would have to wash my hands in the hose! Now, I indulge in my peach habit by making a Peach Crisp or Peach Cobbler. Both are delish! Another fruit I remember getting messy with is sliced melon summer fruitwatermelon. To this day, I could probably eat an entire watermelon by myself! Of course it’s a great summer treat on its own, but I like to “adultify” it with this Spiked Watermelon recipe. Basically, you make a rum sauce and let the melon soak. It is always a hit at BBQs and parties!

These are only a few of the summer fruit recipes that caught my eye on the Forq app! The Forq app is one of the best food apps out there because you can easily find recipes, plus store and share your own! Check out Forq’s FacebookInstagram, and Twitter for more foodie news and recipes.

How to Cook June Seasonal Vegetables This Month

June is National Fresh Fruits and Vegetables month. So, what fruits and vegetables are in season in June? We’ve already done the research for you, and paired them with some of our favorites from the Forq app! My favorite way of discovering these fresh veggies is to visit my local farmers market or farm itself! All month long, they have been putting on beautiful displays of June vegetables. The same goes for the fruits!

Now for the June seasonal vegetables recipes. There are tons of ways to cook fresh vegetables, or even eat them raw! Don’t forget to look through the Forq app for even more recipes on how to use your June vegetables.

Summer- the Season of Salads

http://bit.ly/2cDRZPyWe should call summer the season of salads, because June seasonal vegetables include all your salad basics, including lettuce! Another salad ingredient on our June seasonal vegetables list is carrots. Chop them up and put them in a salad, or bake it into a
Carrot Muffin to get your day started the right way! Celery is another summer vegetable that is great in salads. Or, you could make it the star of its own salad with this Grilled Celery Salad with Tarragon Dressing recipe! Cucumbers and tomatoes are also known for being used in salads, but I prefer it in a salad like this Simple Tomato Cucumber SaladThis cucumber salad recipe calls june seasonal vegetablesfor onions, which also happen to be in season starting in June! One of the best ways to cook onions in the summer is to grill them or fry them in a skillet then eat them with my steak or on my burger. Another summer vegetable that is great to grill (or of course, put on a salad) are peppers. Or, you can use one of my favorite pepper recipes: Turkey Stuffed Peppers. It’s a bit of a healthy stuffed pepper recipe that’s super easy to make!

Other June Vegetables

Some other June seasonal vegetables include my absolute favorite– potatoes! It seems like the list is endless when it comes to what can be done with them. My favorite way of http://bit.ly/2cDRZPycooking potatoes is to mash them, but in the summer I prefer these Garlic Herb Skillet Potatoes. They go perfectly with pretty much anything, but I prefer to pair them with burgers and steaks! Summer squash is another great seasonal veggie. You can grill it or sauté it in a pan as a healthy side dish, or add it to a dish like this Summer Vegetable Spaghetti. The last of the June seasonal vegetables on our list is sweet corn. There is nothing like corn on the cob in the summer! When I make corn on the cob, I always make sure to have leftovers so I can make this Black Bean and Corn Salsa. I add a bit of chopped fresh cilantro!
